What to expect
For our first time guests here at CAMP-of-the-WOODS,
we offer the following clickable items to help prepare a wonderful vacation.
For any other questions, click here to our frequently asked questions page.
CAMP-of-the-WOODS offers many events and activities to keep you and your family having fun. There are many off-site trips to choose from, including white water rafting, sunrise canoe trips, all-day canoe trips with lunch, hikes of all difficulty levels, outdoor rock climbing and even a golf tournament.
If you prefer to stay on the Camp grounds, we have a fabulous beach to enjoy and an on-site marina that rents canoes, kayaks, sunfish, and rowboats. You can also go water-skiing and tubing behind the same famous Correct Craft Ski Nautique speedboats used at Sea World Parks. Off the water, you can challenge your friends and family on our professional tennis courts, 18-hole miniature golf course, shuffleboard, 16-element challenge course, zip-line (day and night!), horseshoe pit, sand volleyball court, and in tournaments of all kinds.
Whether rain or shine, the Sonju Sports Complex is always another great on-site choice. It features two gymnasiums, with a total of four courts for basketball, volleyball or soccer, and a covered pavilion. There is also a state-of-the-art climbing and bouldering wall and a family-style game room with games like foosball, skee ball, air hockey, table shuffleboard, and more! The Arts & Crafts building connected to the Buirkle Center features projects for all ages and skill levels, including a kiln for ceramics. The Camp Museum includes memorabilia from George “Pop” Tibbitts, founder and first director of CAMP-of-the-WOODS. There is also a Reading Room/Library in Larsen Lodge.
The Music Program at CAMP-of-the-WOODS is exceptional. Our musicians are highly-trained and come from around the world to glorify our Lord with their talents. Guests find our music to be one of the highlights of their time at Camp.
Each Friday and Saturday evening, the music staff performs for our guests. These weekend concerts include a broad variety of music, including classical, chamber music, opera, broadway, big band, vocal and instrumental solos, and sacred music. The music staff leads in blended worship at daily chapel and Sunday morning services, as well as the Sunday evening Concert of Praise & Worship.
SPORTS EMPHASIS WEEKS
In addition to all of the great activities listed above, we also offer special Sports Emphasis Weeks for kids (ages noted in schedule below). Each of these weeks will help your child improve their skill level while meeting lots of new friends. Each Sports Emphasis Week allows your children to participate in "low-key," enjoyable sessions with helpful instructors. Sessions are weekday mornings from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
